William Hersey papers 1931-1995. 1931-1995.

This collection primarily contains research materials related to the "Fame is Fleeting-Character Endures" memorial plaque project spearheaded by William Hersey. This collection contains Hersey's research notes and material about individuals after whom Tufts buildings were named. Texts of the final plaques are based on this material. Correspondence, clippings and and handwritten notes are included as well as publications and advertisements for Tufts events. Additional materials include personal and professional correspondences of Harry Adams Hersey, William's father, and William Hersey's subject files on careers, co-education, engineering, and rehabilitation services at Tufts.

William Dearborn Hersey A'32, was born December 3, 1910. He studied psychology at Tufts and married Fairlee (Towsley) Hersey J'35. He became the president of the International Memory Training Institute in Norton, MA, and published _Blueprints for Memory: Your Handbook to the American Dream_ in 1990. Harry Adams Hersey ( 1870-1950 ) attended Tufts College and Tufts' Crane Theological School, receiving his BA in 1903, his BD in 1906, and then his MA. Hersey served churches in Stafford, Connecticut ; West Somerville, Massachusetts ; Caribou, Maine ; Muncie, Indiana ; Canton, New York ; and Danbury, Connecticut .
